Lodi is fortunate to be served by dedicated men and women in our
police and fire departments. These professionals must be
adequately supported with personnel and equipment to ensure the
continued safety of our citizens. Public safety will remain one of
my highest priorities.
As a long time youth sports coach, I recognize the benefit of keeping our young people active. We must continue to expand youth programs, especially for teens, so their spare time is devoted to positive activities – not crime and violence.
We also have a continuing obligation to our senior citizens. We must maintain the level of recreational, artistic and cultural programs currently provided and look for ways to expand leisure services available to the important segment of our population.
With the recent annexation of three large subdivisions, our residential housing needs are set for at least the next decade. What is less certain is how we will address our future need for industrial and commercial acreage. We must make certain that our new general plan accommodates the continued expansion of our economic base. In addition to attracting clean, compatible industry, we must also provide an atmosphere in which existing businesses, large and small, can prosper and expand. We have an obligation to provide local jobs for future generations.

Four years ago we were faced with a significant budget shortfall. We were spending more money than we were collecting. Today our financial position has changed dramatically. We have balanced our budget for the past four years and have seen very significant increases in our fund reserves. This hasn’t been an easy transition and we must not become complacent. With 25 years of experience in the financial industry, I have the background and experience necessary to make the sound budgetary decisions to keep Lodi financially sound.
When elected, I will make the following my priority:
